HealthSouth Corporation announced at the beginning of the month that they will be relocating their corporate office from its current location at Grandview Plaza in Birmingham, to a new headquarters at Liberty Park. Although still in Birmingham, the relocation of the health corporation’s corporate headquarters will bring more to the City of Birmingham’s center. Announced at the very end of 2016, the move will not be effective until spring of 2018, giving HealthSouth plenty of time to make preparations and coordinate the corporate move with developers, contractors, and corporate moving professionals.

“Maintaining HealthSouth’s corporate headquarters in the City of Birmingham reaffirms our commitment to the continued growth of our city and the region,” said Jay Grinney, President and Chief Executive Officer of HealthSouth. “As we assessed relocation alternatives, we wanted new offices that would be conveniently located for the majority of our employees while providing an open and efficient work environment that would meet our current and future space needs. The new location meets these criteria.”

All My Sons Moving & Storage Birmingham handles not only corporate office moves and headquarters relocations, but also large residential moves. If you are moving to Birmingham and are in the healthcare services industry, HealthSouth is remaining in Birmingham in hopes to provide additional jobs for those who are within close proximity to the center of the City of Birmingham, so you can expect to see positions open within the coming two to five years.

Peaky Blinders was a popular television drama based in Birmingham and was a nationwide hit – a fact that you should know about Birmingham before moving to the city. Now, Sadler’s Ales Brewery in Stourbridge is bringing back its Peaky Blinder beer that was made in April 2014.

Peaky Blinder Gold is the name of the beer that is made with five different malts, all made to taste like the beer that “Brummies” would have drank in the 1920s.

Steve Land, Swallow’s managing director, said “The original was identical to the beer people drank after the First World War, so we developed a more contemporary, crisper version at 4.3 per cent, which responds to the trend for lighter and more flavoursome craft beers. It appeals to a wider variety of drinkers and is great with food.”

Sadler’s partnered with Quinton-based Swallow Drinks for distribution, and the dark and hoppy beer will be sold at St. Andrews in Birmingham City, Marriot Hotels, several Birmingham nightclubs, and theaters. What has Birmingham movers even more excited is the announcement that the beer will also be available in cases of eight bottles for $12.99.

Take a break from moving and pick up a case of Peaky Blinder Gold for you and your movers – you both will be glad you did and it will show that you already know something about the neighborhood. All finished moving in? Throw a house warming party for Labor Day and stock up on Peaky Blinder Gold – the local craft beer that your neighbors will greatly appreciate.

If you are moving to Birmingham and love barhopping without rules, Birmingham law is now making that possible.

According to WVTM 13, until this month it has been illegal to walk around with open containers in Birmingham’s Uptown. However, the Uptown Entertainment District, BJCC, and the Sheraton and Westin hotels will now allow visitors to walk around with open containers – a decision that a lot of nighttime Uptown frequenters are happy to hear.

Bottle and Bone server Tate Polluck said that he has high hopes that the passage of the new law will draw more customers in to not only Bottle and Bone, but to all establishments and entertainment venues in Uptown. Starting at 5 p.m., patrons of the entertainment district can purchase a drink at one bar and carry it on the streets to another bar.

Another local mentioned that it takes her back to her days of living in Florida, “going from bar to bar outside.” However, a lot of famous bar hopping areas in Florida have been getting rid of the law, making rules and regulations that prohibit open containers outside of establishments. Why? Among the many reasons are: customers not sticking around at one establishment (bad for business), it results in belligerence in the streets, and if glass bottles are dropped on the sidewalks it poses a safety hazard. This leaves Birmingham movers skeptical as to whether the new law will stick around or not.

If you are moving to Birmingham, chances are you will stumble upon local favorite Barton Academy. One of the oldest buildings in the city, Barton Academy is also the oldest public school built in Alabama. Built in 1836, the academy is finally being renovated, along with the JD Yerby School next door.

The school system passed a $3 million renovation plan for the exterior of the academy. As a result, the Barton Academy Foundation is looking to raise an additional $15 million to convert the school into an international school. This is great news for anyone who is looking to move to Alabama from overseas.

Since Barton Academy is an Alabama architectural treasure, Birmingham moving companies hope that the exterior renovations will not hinder the architectural appeal that has been cherished for over 200 years.

Barton Academy has always symbolized the bold moves that Alabama has taken towards education, and locals want to make sure that it still does. If the Barton Academy Foundation does decide to convert the building into an international school, it would continue to hold its legacy as being a leader in education, as the academy plans to create the specialty for grades 6-12. The specialty school would be an academy where students can learn foreign languages and world cultures, as well as “learn to succeed in an interconnected world,” according to their website.
