Your first night after moving to Birmingham and being in a new home can be both frustrating and frightening. The first night in your new home after moving can be frustrating if you did not hire full-service Birmingham movers to unpack your belongings, leaving the unpacking for you to complete yourself; and it can be frightening since you are in an unfamiliar environment. A few things that can be helpful and done before include:
-Changing locks (#1 priority. You don’t know who else has a spare key)-
Check for plumbing leaks
-Get rid of pests
-Steam the carpets
-Locate the breaker box
-Disinfect rooms, kitchen, etc.
A few things to keep in mind for the first few nights in your new home after moving to Birmingham:
-Do all your laundry beforehand so you don’t miss clothes you might need
-Pack a duffle bag with a week’s worth of clothing for the first week.
-Have electronics (chargers, connecting cables, etc.) organized in one box
-Have toilet paper, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner, shower curtains, towels and shower rods
-Air mattress is good to have, especially if you are waiting on furniture. (Don’t forget to pack the air pump!)
-Remember eating utensils! Paper plates, plastic utensils, paper towels, take out menus, garbage bags, and cleaning wipes!
-Search for a grocery store that is nearby your new place
